Up in your grill

While we were vacationing on the coast of Maine, we enjoyed a visit to the Transportation Museum at Owl’s Head. Fortunately for us, there was an antique foreign car rally going on. I love the faces in these cars—such character!

A visit to the Bread & Puppet Museum

My wife and I took a trip down memory lane recently by returning to the Bread & Puppet Museum up in Glover, Vermont. We had been regular visitors when the Domestic Resurrection Circus was an annual event over the decades. However, with the end of the annual Circus, we hadn’t visited in ten or fifteen years. The life-size (and much larger!) puppets are true works of art. Anyone visiting Vermont and into subversive political theater owes themselves a visit to this iconic place.

Andromeda above the lake

The cloudless night sky and low light pollution of northern New Hampshire make for excellent star gazing. This shot was taken from a campground on the shores of Conway Lake in New Hampshire. The bright lights to the lower right are from a neighboring campfire. A satellite rolls across the sky as well.

Leafy Pool

On our way to the Maine coast for vacation this past week, we stopped by a beaver pond along the Kancamagus Highway in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. This pool attracted my eye for the multiple levels of interest within it: the leaves floating on top, the rocks on the bottom, and the reflection of the sky and trees.

As fall officially arrives and the possibility of frost becomes more present, hardy flowers like this rudbeckia continue to show off their colors.

Pod People

Milk weed pods are beginning to burst forth out in our front field. It was challenging capturing their dehiscence as there was a good breeze blowing across the field.
