Sometimes a shaky camera can yield interesting results… Raindrops cling to branches and my hand is unsteady…

Terraced

The reality of this scene was a little difficult to shoot. The depression was probably 4-6″ deep, and the ice had formed progressive terraces in built-up layers. A thin, transparent layer of ice covered the whole thing, leaves, log and all. I shot a bit into the sun to capture some of the reflection off the surface ice.

I just picked up an electronic viewfinder for my new Sony RX100 II. Here’s a shot from my first foray with the new setup.

Cellophane & Ice

More experiments with my new Sony RX100 II. I like using slow shutter speeds in the 1/8 – 1/25 second range to capture a certain cellophane quality to flowing water. Shooting hand-held is a challenge for any image stabilization system, and my trusty Nikon D600 and its IS lens do a great job. Looks like the Sony is no slouch either.

Another shot with the RX100 II. This was hand-held as I was testing the image stabilization capabilities of the camera. Not too bad…
